Zero Balancing

Jo has been a homeopath since the early 1990s. Her primary training was with the Soluna School of Homeopathy followed by postgraduate training with Jeremy Sherr at Dynamis School of Advanced Homeopathic Study. Prior to that she was a dental hygienist - in fact she has been involved in healthcare since 1980 in a variety of clinical situations. She has a background in sporting activities, participating competitively since the 1970s, enjoying long distance running, climbing and cycling including the ladies National Road Race. These sports push the body to the limits so Jo has developed quite an awareness of health and looking after body and soul.

Jo began learning martial arts in 1986. Her interest and skills have developed over the years and since 2002, she has been studying as a martial arts trainer and practitioner with the acclaimed Raymond Towers who founded the UK Taiji Qigong Foundation (UKTQF). This organisation seeks to integrate the internal and the external arts, which spans a training from meditation practice and healthcare, to the dynamic forms and body awareness and control of the martial arts. Jo specialises in teaching Qigong because of its subtle and powerful format which involves the whole body, bringing mind intent, posture and breath into harmony and improving both health and fitness. As well as Qigong, Jo is a practitioner of the Chinese martial arts Baguazhang and Xingiquan.

This interest in the martial arts led to Jo's discovery of Zero Balancing as a complementary health treatment and she completed her training in 2004. Through touch and gentle stretching, this therapy is able to rebalance the whole body, reducing stress and pain, increasing energy flow and a sense of wellbeing.

Jo is currently studying for a Doctorate at the University of Derby, in the context of healing, wellbeing and the ancient traditions of Buddhism and Taoism. As one of the Buddhist representatives and faith advisors, she is involved with program development at the University's Multifaith Centre. Based at the Woodlands Natural Health Centre in Derby, she offers individual consultations as well as workshops in Derby and the Derby area.

Jo regularly teaches Buddha Palm Meditation at Woodlands Natural Health Centre - soon to be offered regularly at Derby University.

Jo is a mother, enjoys singing, dancing and walking in the hills, and lives life with a warm-hearted enthusiasm.
